Sushant Singh Rajput lived an extraordinary life like the characters in the movies he acted in.
But his extraordinary journey from normal beginnings to popularity ended on the 14th when he was found dead in his own room at the age of 34.
News of his death shocked millions of his fans. Mumbai police say he committed suicide.
Growing up in the impoverished Indian state of Bihar, the Rajputs were enrolled in an excellent engineering college which was a means of ensuring a bright future for a middle-class family.
But he wanted to act. So he left college and came to Mumbai. Mumbai is a city where thousands of dreams come true every day.
Initially, he played a character in a normal role.
He acted in small roles until a television serial became popular. And as he became popular on television, he also found success in big-screen movies.
Many fans took his death as if he had lost a relative of his own, as his life matched the purpose of growing up in a small town.
After her death, unconfirmed details about Sushant’s career, financial status, relationships, and mental health began to appear on social media and news channels.
After his death, no one he knew was allowed to be interviewed.
Many of his interviews with psychologists, old colleagues, friends, managers, family, and colleagues were broadcast on TV channels.
While the police are giving only a few details to the media, the mystery surrounding his death is getting deeper.
‘Inside and Out’
A few days after his death, some social media users claimed that he had committed suicide because of the unfair treatment of a few powerful families and directors in the Indian film industry.
He says he has no “godfather” in the film industry and that his progress is unacceptable to some.
He has hinted at recent reports that he has been sidelined in films with huge investments.
One of his most popular films is ‘MS Dhoni’ based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Mumbai police are investigating Rajput’s death.
Police have so far interviewed more than 50 people in the film industry to determine the cause of the suicide.
But police officials have not yet prepared a final report.
Many allegations have been leveled against some directors and producers on social media and this has seriously affected them. One of them is Karan Johar.
He has received threats and abuse online. But he has not responded to such threats.
A film critic, who did not want to be named, said that Sushant Singh’s death has brought into the debate the bitter truth that those who do not have good contacts do not get a chance to work.
“But we don’t know if it was the business rivalry that brought Sushant Singh to that point. We have to wait until the investigation is over,” he said.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also among the directors questioned by the police
While the debate is raging, some TV channels have turned their attention to Rajput girlfriend Riya Chakraborty.
Rajput’s father has lodged a complaint against Chakraborty at the Bihar State Police Office alleging incitement to suicide and embezzling money.
Chakraborty, however, said on Twitter that she had done nothing wrong and appealed to Home Minister Amit Shah to conduct an impartial inquiry into Rajput’s death.
TV channels and websites are saying that there are two sides to Sushant Singh’s death.
Some have claimed that Rajput took the step due to the behavior of Chakraborty and the film director, while others have said that his death was very suspicious.
And to prove their point, they have gone beyond their moral limits. Saumitra Pathare said.
Rajput’s bank account details as well as his mental health and the details of the medicine he is taking have also become news.
Sushant Singh was 34 years old at the time of his death
Dr. Pathare said that all news organizations should have a code of conduct for covering news on sensitive issues like suicide.
“But sadly, most of the channels in our market based on the number of viewers do not seem to do that. The tendency to do more than one makes them forget the responsibility,” he added.
There are millions of young people following Rajput on social media who are reading and watching every new rumor or event about his death.
Saying that these young people may be in a mentally risky situation, the media should be more responsible when making news. Plateau explains.
The issue of mental health in India has not been addressed to a large extent and has been given the wrong message for years.
“Our movies portray a person who is in a trance as crazy or always miserable,” he said. Pathare said.
“It’s a myth that a person with depression is always depressed,” he added.
Mumbai police have also been criticized for making public details of what Rajput was searching for on the internet before his death.
So the leaders want to see his family fight for justice.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has recommended that the case be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in alliance with him in the federal government, has also accepted the recommendation and the CBI has launched an investigation.
